Los Dandy's was a Peruvian cumbia band that was formed in the '70s by the great H‚ctor
Farfan (Los Beta 5, Los Destellos) and that featured the superb vocals of the legendary
Oswaldo "Guajiro" Ortega (Los Guajiros, Los Destellos) on most of the songs. This is
a reissue of the band's rare album from 1985, originally released on the tiny Bamb£

The apparition of Spanish female duo Las Grecas with their Gipsy-Rock sound in the
70s created quite a boom in the Spanish market at the time and paved the way for
other similar gipsy-rock duos. Morena y Clara were one of them. Launched by bizarre
flamenco producer Lauren Postigo, they released a string of 45s and three LPs
(highly sought after now) for the Discophon label. They mixed Rumba, Flamenco,

electric guitar, Afro-Caribbean rhythms... Four long tracks, including the massive
afro-disco-boogie "Africa Mawa" plus two cool afro/Zouk tracks and a deep ballad with
psych guitar. Featuring Congolese musician Denis Bibi Dens Thsibayi and his band
The Best, "Sensible" was recorded at Abidjan, Ivory Coast, after Denis Tshibayi was
requested to play live there. M. Sacko helped with the production / edition and the
album was originally released first as a tiny private pressing in the Ivory Coast
and later in France on the Tangent label. During that time, Denis Thsibayi also
recorded for Earthworks/Rough Trade and in the following decades he recorded with
Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound Records), Alpha Blondy, etc.
